What Slow Living Means to Me (And Why It Will Look Different for You)

A peaceful forest path winding through tall, lush trees, dappled with soft sunlight. The earthy trail invites quiet reflection, symbolizing the personal journey of slow living.

Life is dynamic and ever-changing. Just as we settle into one routine or rhythm, the unexpected reveals itself and asks us to adapt. Adaptation comes naturally for some, while others experience more resistance. Of course, it all depends on what’s being asked to change!

Collectively, 2020 was a year of change due to the pandemic, and in the time that followed, change kept following me - from personal challenges to family difficulties and business shifts. I found it all very overwhelming. I did my best to cope, but my gut health suffered, as did my nervous system, constantly in fight or flight mode.

Discovering slow living transformed my life. It shifted my perspective - amidst so much external change, I didn’t have to keep demanding more of myself. Instead, I could allow slow adaptation, giving myself permission to heal at my own pace. Presence and meditation became my anchors, offering me space to breathe and soothe my nervous system. Slow living asked nothing of achievements or goals - only that nectar of healing energy. I was grateful, and I’m so passionate about others finding their own slow living mantra.

But I know that slow living is not prescriptive - it isn't a one-size-fits-all approach. It is meant to be consumed and digested at your own rate, allowing the magic of slowing down to manifest in a way that feels right for you. This will look different for everyone, taking on different shapes, suggestions and approaches.

And the best part? It’s yours.

All I can do is invite you to slow down, pause and connect with the present moment - allowing your own unique unfolding to begin.
